Does anyone even own a book in this era of technological advancement?! Who wants a book when everything is available on the internet and you can google anything and everything! The books are obsolete and serve no purpose, it just takes up space in the house and catches dust ever so often, you say? Well, there is research going on to study the human brain when it is reading something. The results are overwhelming! Our brain makes new connections and It’s an amazing process. The reading brain can be likened to the real-time collaborative effort of a symphony orchestra, with various parts of the brain working together, like sections of instruments, to maximize our ability to decode the written text in front of us.
Although it might surprise a few of us that reading could increase emotional intelligence, nonetheless the reading process plays an important social function. While reading fiction, we mentally imagine the event, the situation, the characters, and the details described by the author. It is a total immersion process.

- Set aside 20 minutes a day for reading.
- If you use public transport, carry a book with you.
- Once you get the hang of it, you can gain complete relaxation even with 30 minutes of immersive reading
- Make it a family habit! Read to your kids
- The best treasure parents can give to their children is the habit of reading.
