If you persistently experience fatigue, anxiousness, irritability, depression, poor memory, lethargy, Body aches, shortness of breath or you recurrently have skin breakouts and blemishes, acne, eczema, psoriasis or constipation, then these are the signs telling you that your body needs to detoxify. Dr. Haslisa has deconstructed detoxification for us to get the best out of it!
We are exposed to thousands of chemicals every day through food, drinking water, air pollution artificial fragrances and consumer products. Chemicals are removed from the body in feces, sweat, and exhalation. However, the body may not be able to remove all the chemicals. The body naturally attempts to eliminate substances that are harmful or are not used.
Detoxification is the process of removing harmful, unwanted, waste products from one’s body.
Toxins are any substance that can be poisonous or can cause negative health effects. Toxin refers to all the metals, chemicals, pollutants, artificial food ingredients, pesticides, radiation and poisons that cause the body harm.
Harmful material (toxins) may enter our body through:
– Ingestion (swallowing through the mouth) of food and water
– Inhalation (breathing through nose or mouth) through breathing air
– skin/hair/nail application
– exposure to radiation and electromagnetic fields
Anything that enters our body through any of the above manner, will enter our bloodstream and will have to go through our liver and kidneys where the harmful substances are processed and removed from our body through:
– bowel movements (faeces/poop)
– exhalation (breathing out)
“People who already have symptoms of ill-health and are
planning to actively detoxify their bodies can expect to experience a
detox crisis. This generally does not last more than 2 weeks.”
To perform detoxification well, we require good blood circulation so that toxic substances from all over our body is efficiently carried to our liver and kidneys. Good blood circulation and enzymatic processes require essential vitamins and minerals for proper function. This can be achieved through good nutrition. If your normal diet consists of processed foods, fast food and lacks fresh organic vegetables and fruits, you will indeed benefit from a detox diet!
It is necessary for the body to maintain normal function. The build-up of toxins can block the normal function of enzymes and hormones in all parts of our body.
With good detoxification we can expect to have:
– Good memory
– Abundant energy
– Ideal weight
– Radiant skin
– Thriving in work and social life
– Good sleep
What to expect after Detoxification
- Detoxification helps the body maintain optimal organ function.
- Detoxification will improve blood circulation and every organ function.
“If your normal diet consists of processed foods, fast food and lacks
fresh organic vegetables and fruits, you will indeed benefit from a detox diet!”
Tips for detoxing
Urine: drink enough plain water daily to achieve lightly colored urine.
Bowel: eat enough vegetables, and fruits to achieve easy bowel movements 2 to 3 times a day.
Breathing: practice conscious deep breathing. Stop to take 10 deep breaths every hour.
Breathe in – count x 1
Hold breath – count x 3
Breath out – count x 2
Exercise: Make sure to break up a sweat every day, 15 to 30 minutes daily. Choose a method that you enjoy.
Detoxification is an inbuilt mechanism that all creatures have been designed with. However, we need to consider how much things have changed through evolution and modernization. We were created to live in a clean, healthy environment; breathing fresh air, drinking pristine water and eating natural, fresh food. The reality of today is far from that. We live in a dirty, polluted environment. We eat genetically modified, pesticide-laden food which is further processed and packed for the convenience of modern living. So a conscious detox should become a part of our lives. Detox to enjoy your life to the fullest!
