Lighting can brighten up any house. It can be used to play with creation of light and shade effects in the house either to highlight something or hide something. Know the principles of lighting first-hand from Janeen Swing.
How important is good lightning in our houses? While planning the interiors of the house, a major chunk of money is spent on the furniture and drapes, but everything comes to a naught if proper lighting is not used. Paradoxically, light can be used both to accentuate certain things and hide others. It can be used to create illusions and reality at the same time. Ecofirstart is here to help us in our endeavor to festive-up our abode.
Lighting décor: it would definitely depend on your taste and style. The most important is proportion and having the space well lit. You could create a new modern meets traditional lighting or just opt for the 1960s style or go eclectic! So what goes hand in hand is respecting the environment, favoring eco-responsible materials, refurbishing old items or incorporating more nature into your décor.
Ecofirstart supports the Green Movement and the efficient use of our resources. Inspired by the work of Jane Goodall and others in the ecological movement, we hope to contribute to society’s changing mentality towards the disposability of objects while still promoting aesthetic appeal. No matter the source of this belief, the artists represented at Ecofirstart produce some of the most striking, unique and creative works of art that can be found.
Together let us make your abode festival ready!
There are three basic types of lighting:
Ambient (general) illumination: for orientation and general tasks in the space. Ambient lighting can be accomplished with chandeliers, ceiling or wall-mount fixtures, track or recessed lights and even table and floor lamps.
Task illumination: for local, more demanding tasks, great task lighting can be achieved by recessed and track lighting, pendant lighting and sconces as well as vanity lights and floor, table, and desk lamps.
”Maintenance of lighting: maintenance should
be done every 2-3 months by performing deep
cleaning and changing of bulbs if needed.’’
Accent illumination: to highlight special objects of interest or to guide occupants. Accent lighting can be provided by recessed and track lighting, chandeliers with dimmer switches, over-wall sconces.
- The three lighting styles that could be used in the living room
- Overhead Lighting
- Floor and table lighting for visual acuity
- A center chandelier and rope lighting in bookshelves and wall picture lighting
Thus the room is lit from all angles for clarity of the eyes.
2. Pleasure with pendants
Pendant lights are a great source of style and illumination whether they’re used in a traditional setting (kitchen island) or in an unconventional space (over a reading nook). Their compact size and adjustable height allows you to use them in multiples and arrange them in creative ways. Choose pendant lights from different collections- stagger them or create clusters.
- Long table – go linear
With a longer dining room or kitchen table – or even a rectangular table – consider a linear chandelier or multiple pendants along the length of the table.
- Create a focal point
Use sconces in master suites, children’s rooms, bathrooms and even luxury powder rooms; they add elegance and a focal point that can define the style of a room. Make a bold statement with unique sconces. The modern sconces in this room by DISC Interiors are adjustable, allowing the user to change the size and direction of the lighting. Even more importantly, they provide a unique, sculptural element that sets a modern tone for the space.
- Today’s open floor plans mean lighting of one room needs to be coordinated with the other rooms; in style as well as quality of light. When choosing bulbs, make sure they all deliver a similar color temperature. This will help décor and will look consistent.
