Expression of Unique Personal Style -Mud Jeans
MUD jeans is impacting the environment positively by using recycled cotton in making their jeans. Recycling and upcycling, circular designs are few of the processes they have adapted in making gorgeous jeans. They have started the “Lease your Jeans” concept for a greener Earth.
Jeans is the world’s most popularly worn piece of clothing and it will forever be a staple for our wardrobes, regardless of the season. From dark wash slim cut to Boyfriend to Bootcut Fit to high-waist wide-legs, 1.2 billion jeans are sold worldwide. But the amount of water, chemicals and material that goes into making one pair of jeans is ludicrously high. Not to talk about the landfill when it is discarded!
What if we all cleaned up our own messes? This simple question was how MUD Jeans was started: A modern fashionable clothing brand with a positive environmental impact. They are the only brand that works completely according to the principles of the circular economy.

‘The O3 Blue colored jeans produced from this
fabric comes with a special look caused by the
recycled content that leaves some sparks of
unevenness in the yarn.”

The challenge for MUD Jeans is that the recycled fabric does not come at a better price. In fact the price of the fabric is 25% higher. A strange decision, one might argue. By re-using their old MUD (and others too) jeans, MUD Jeans closes its own denim loop and in turn transitioning towards a circular economy.
”No water:
MUD Jeans continues to reduce the use of water
and chemicals in the finishing and laundry department.
The ‘bleach’ for O3 Blue is created solely by using ozone
and laser techniques. The indigo dye used for the new
collection is Cradle 2 Cradle certified VAT Dye from Dystar.”

The 6 Mud Steps To Sustainable Denim
Circular design
This is about designing products with the end of their life in mind and hence making the raw material easily re-usable. That’s how we like to think at MUD Jeans: keep it simple, put everything into question to see if we can improve it.
Anti-fast-fashion
Instead of launching a new collection every two weeks, we try our best to make timeless jeans which you can keep forever (well, almost forever). In this dynamics, we also offer a repair service in order to make our jeans last even longer.

No secrets
From the cotton field to your wardrobe, the process of making clothes seems very long and opaque, right? At MUD Jeans, we are working on this to make it as simple and transparent as possible while keeping the working conditions and the impact on the environment in mind.
Recycle & Upcycle
The first thing we can do with old jeans is recycle them. We can’t make jeans from 100% recycled cotton yet, so we have to mix this recycled cotton with virgin cotton; but we can use up to 40% of recycled cotton to make new jeans.
The other solution is to upcycle the jeans. If the jeans are completely worn out, we fix them, customize them on demand and sell them as vintage jeans.

Guilt-free fashion: Lease your jeans
You need to get dressed, but you don’t need to own your jeans, do you? Then you can just lease them instead! The idea behind this is that we want to remain the owners of the raw materials. In this way we make sure that we clean up our own mess, and don’t ask somebody else to do it.
Let us join hands towards a cleaner and greener environment by leasing a pair of jeans from now on!
