Certified Zumba & Konga Instructor
For the girl who wants to lose weight but can’t stand the treadmill, for the Mom who needs to keep fit but would never dare enter a gym, for those who don’t have time to workout but the goal is to lose weight, be in shape or stay healthy- Konga is the answer.
Konga is a fusion of boxing, kickboxing, cardio, pop, rock, Pilates, disco, hip hop and everything in a set of hot soundtracks.
Music fuels exercise
The real benefit of music, when it comes to exercise, is that it motivates individuals by evoking positive emotions that help buffer some of the negative symptoms associated with exercise. You feel energetic and happy because creating music in rhythm to one’s pace has a profound effect on the perceived effort during a workout.
Full body workout
Konga is full body workout and it demands a lot of energy output because it involves “movements in all directions”. While running, swimming and other propulsive forms of physical activities use rhythm and momentum to keep you moving, there is a lot of acceleration and deceleration in Konga which the body is less able to do in an energy efficient way. For most of us training in gym is de-motivating, but with dance it’s fun and the music keeps the motivation high.
KONGA class is an instructor-led intense workout designed to shape, sculpt & redefine your physique while injecting your body with an endorphin overload.
There are only four moves per track to
make it easy to follow and I break down t
hose moves before the track starts, so that
you can concentrate on the intensity and technic.
Who can do it?
KONGA is for everyone. It was designed to be for those uncoordinated ones who love working out to loud music. The great thing about it is that it’s a mixture of different types of exercises. Older people can opt for lower intensity and keep cardiovascular fitness.
Can you describe what a class is like?
The class is in the dark with disco lights and loud music. Before each track the instruction is broken down; the 4 moves for that song is taught and do a quick transition to the next song ensuring your heart rate doesn’t drop too quickly.
It’s extremely fun and fast and makes you feel less anxious.
